Going against the trend of large international chains that recently
arrived in Brazil, “Café do Centro” chose to open the first shops on
the other side of the globe, more precisely in Japan. Currently,
the company has two units in the country: the first, opened in 2006,
is located in the heart of Tokyo, facing the Imperial Palace. The second
unit, in the elegant quarter of Aoyama, also in Japan’s capital city was
opened in August 2007. Plans however do not stop here: the
expectation is to reach 100 units in Asia over the next 10 years.
The project “Café do Centro” in Japan came about in 2001 with the approximation between the brand and executives of the country. Opening of the first shop required five years of negotiations. Discussions about the second unit took less time – one year and a half – but once proceedings were concluded, only 30 days were required to make this unit operational.
The “Café do Centro” cafeterias in Japan offer a menu with a full line of Brazilian products. The Gourmet Coffee (espresso and filtered), Specials of Origin, Frozen frappés (milkshakes), iced Coffee, cappuccinos – all from “Café do Centro”. Cheese bread nuggets, codfish balls, caipirinha (sugar brandy cocktail), passion fruit and mango juices are never missing from the menu.
